ID# 27,442
"DESCANSO"
Summit, California

This unique streetcar was one of Los Angeles Railway`s funeral cars which were in vogue when trolley lines served most of the city's cemeteries. It was built by the company's master car builder in l909, and was used until 1924 when auto hearses caused the end of the service. in 1940 the car was placed on display at Summit station at the top of Cajon Pass, and is now the property of the Pacific Railroad Society. The little car can be seen from Santa Fe and Union Pacific transcontinental streamliners. "Descanso" is a Spanish word for "rest" or "peace".
