Otis Junction, Otis Elevating Railway and Catskill Mountain Railway

ID # 2,301
From Burr Hubbell
This is the base of the Otis Elevating Railway after it was rebuilt (which makes the photo 1902 or later). Prior to the rebuilding it passed over Bogart Road (seen in the background).
The foreground tracks are those of the Catskill Mountain Railway which referred to this as "Otis Junction". The Catskill Mountain Railway ran from Catskill, NY to Palenville, NY, (just past Otis Junction) with a branch to Cairo, NY.

The note is interesting because it refers to the Catskill & Tannersville Rail Road which connected with the Otis at the top of the incline. It is more likely that the engine shown is No. 1 of the Catskill Mountain Railway.

The bridge over the Otis in the background is known as the Bogart Road Bridge.

This was also considered a station
