Locomotive No. 23 of Glass- “A” is a 4—4-O condensing tank locomotive rebuilt by Messrs. Beyer, Peacock & Co. Ltd. and has been restored externally to its 1903 condition. The locomotive was rebuilt in 1889, 1903 and 1918. It worked on: the Inner Circle when new until 1905. From that date until 1914 it worked between Baker Street; Rickmansworth, Chesham, etc. and afterwards was used for shunting, at Neasden. Subsequently it hauled passenger trains between Quainton Road and Brill until 1935. From then until 1948 it was used on engineers’ trains on the Metropolitan and District Lines of London Transport. The locomotive was withdrawn in 1948 and is now preserved at the Museum of British Transport, London, S.W.4
